Would you like to take part in a research study?
IN-TOUCH seeks parents to participate in a study on baby smart monitors and parent/infant touch interaction. This is part of our wider social research on emerging touch technologies and their impact on how people communicate. As touch is really important in how parents communicate with their babies, we are studying the ways in which baby smart monitors may become part of parent and child everyday routines, and what this will mean for parent/baby touch, their relationships and the experience of parenting.
We would love to hear from you if:
- You live in London, Bedford (UK) or surrounding areas;
- Your child is under 1 year of age;
- You are not a first-time parent.
No previous use of baby monitors required.
Participation will involve a short introductory questionnaire and an informal group discussion over tea and biscuits with up to 8 parents (babies welcome). Focus groups will take place in May 2018 and will last between 1-1.5 hours.
After the focus group, we might invite you to try out a baby smart monitor for up to 1 week and take part in another research interview in your home. Taking part in the focus group does not mean you have to participate in this second stage of the research, and you can withdraw from our study at any time.
Please contact Kerstin if you would like to find out more about the study or are interested in taking part.
